The Dallas beer scene gets a taste of Austin with an innovative new partnership between two small but well-regarded craft breweries. Austin-based Infamous Brewing Co., maker of noted craft beer Hijack Cream Ale, has formed a brewing arrangement with Grapevine Craft Brewery that allows Infamous to make and sell more beer. The two breweries will co-share space at Grapevine's new plant, where Infamous brewers will team up with Grapevine brewers a few day each month.

In May the brewery, which opened in March 2013, notably scored 10 medals, four platinum, at the inaugural 2015 Brewski Awards and earned a silver medal in the international U.S. Open Beer Championship on July 4. Recognition is not all the brewery has in its line up. Since taking over majority control of the brewery in early 2015, owner Josh Horowitz said he implemented several operational changes to improve production and bottling.

Breweries from China to the Czech Republic sent in almost 4,000 beers and ciders representing 90 different styles for the 2015 U.S. Open Beer Championship in Oxford, OH. This competition includes professional breweries and award-winning home-brewers. Today, judges from England, Canada and the U.S. announced the winners.... HIJACK - SILVER MEDAL - BLONDE/GOLDEN ALE

“It’s a pretty neat way to get the community together.”-Josh Horowitz A local brewery is stepping up to raise money for leukemia and lymphoma research. Josh Horowitz, owner of Infamous Brewing Company in Hudson Bend, is campaigning to win Man of the Year through the South Central Texas chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. During a 10-week campaign, 11 area candidates, including Horowitz, use their imaginations and resources to find various ways to raise money for leukemia and lymphoma research. On June 6, the winners of the campaign will be announced.

When you head up to IBC for one of their Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday open taprooms, you’re likely to catch at least one or two of the following: Live music, a rotating selection of treats from local Austin food trucks, lively conversation with the brewers who made the beer you’re drinking.
